VP Pick Pence: Trump Ticket Will ‘Lead From Strength’
“Donald Trump is a good man and he will make a great President of the United States of America”, the Republican VP candidate stated in front of roughly 300 supporters at the Hilton in Midtown Manhattan on Saturday morning. He turned to a sober, steady conservative who shares little with him in terms of personality and political history.

Much of the commentary was unkind, revolving around the notion that this presentation of the union wasn’t good for the country or for Pence himself.
To see if they meshed, Trump had dinner with Pence and his wife this week in Indiana. He predicted that Pence would have won re-election as governor, were he not running for vice president.
“They got crushed”, Trump said. The potential Vice President addressed the press for the first time since being announced as Donald’s pick, and of course he used the opportunity to totally trash both Hillary Clinton, 68, and Barack Obama, 54.
Brandishing his running mate’s job-creating credentials, Trump ticked through a list of statistics he said showed how Gov. Pence had pulled IN out of economic recessions: an unemployment rate that fell to less than 5 per cent on his watch, an uptick IN the labour force and a decrease IN IN residents on unemployment insurance.
Trump had been annoyed that the element of surprise had been taken away by the leaking of Pence’s name, the source added. On the 2003 invasion of Iraq for example, Mr Trump said he was against it, but Mr Pence gave it his support. Trump talked about Pence or the combined ticket about a quarter of the time.
“As Trump himself has stated, “chemistry” is very important, but that can mean different things”.
The Trump-Pence event offered Americans the first glimpse at what the 2016 Republican presidential ticket will look like, barring the unexpected. He’s been critical of Trump’s proposed temporary ban on foreign Muslims entering the U.S., calling the idea “offensive and unconstitutional”.
On Thursday, Trump had convened a midnight campaign conference call about his pick, even after he’d had Pence fly to NY to accept his offer. Her campaign released a web video Saturday contrasting clips of the Republican touting his decisiveness with the timeline of the past few days.
Trump, multiple sources told CNN, was troubled by his gut feeling that he should have gone with his friend, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie instead, and made calls to his children and campaign chairman Paul Manafort, but was told he could not.
Pence put a fearless face on the drama in an interview with Indiana TV station Fox59 on Friday.
A shift to IN and school choice IN that state and tax cuts.
Pence’s attorney Matt Morgan filed the paperwork Friday with the IN secretary of state, formally withdrawing him from the governor race.
Pence, 57, was born in Columbus, Indiana, a town about 40 miles south of Indianapolis, where his father ran a chain of gas stations.

Once at the microphone finally, Mr Pence, who has carved out a career championing extreme socially conservative positions on issues such as immigration, gay rights and abortion, similarly took up the populist theme of voters angered by politicians telling them what to do and think.
