Giancarlo Stanton wins MLB Home Run Derby

Stanton even advanced to the finals round of the 2016 Home Run Derby against the defending champion Todd Frazier, according to SB Nation Stanton showed that he had some steam left in him.

“When I get a few in a row I would kind of bump it up 5 to 10 percent”, Stanton said. Hitting just. 233 with 20 home runs and 107 strikeouts through the first 76 games of the season, Stanton opted to accept an invitation to the Home Run Derby anyway, and he made the most of his coast-to-coast trip. He was named an All-Star ambassador, then played his way into All-Star consideration by hitting 11 home runs in June.

A broken bone in his left hand prevented Stanton from appearing in the Home Run Derby last season. After smashing 50 home runs in 2015, he needed 32 home runs in this contest to become the all-time individual Home Run Derby leader – no easy feat. “I said it would be an epic home run battle and it stepped up to the name. The outs come down on you while the four minutes, you build up to that”.

Shine returned the favor in complimenting Stanton.

The total was the highest in the 31-year history of the event.

Neither Stanton nor Frazier were not selected to participate in the All-Star Game, but flew across the country in order to compete in the Home Run Derby. In the other semifinal, Frazier defeated Duvall 16-15.

The Marlins sent out a ticket offer to Marlins fans who previously purchased tickets with a fun little ticket promotion tied to Stanton’s performance in the Home Run Derby.

“Just depends, depends on how the year is going, depends on where it is”, when asked about defining his title. “I figure it’s a waste if I don’t bring this bad boy home”. It’s the same number that Roger Maris hit in 1961 to break Babe Ruth’s single-season home run mark.

Carlos Gonzalez (19) of the Rockies started off slow, spraying too many line drives. Despite their initial boast, it turned out that the team were not prepared to knock 61% off tickets for the Marlins’ remaining 35 games.

“It was a lot of fun”, the rookie shortstop said. Both events take place the night before their sport’s All-Star Game, both would move much faster and be more exciting if commercials weren’t such a necessary evil, and both turn top-level athletes into giddy spectators.

Derby participants are allowed to choose their own pitcher, and Jeff Seager said he was “honored” to get the call from his son last week.

“I’m just really happy for him”.
