Police in Patrick Kane’s hometown of Hamburg, New York, confirmed they are investigating an incident that allegedly took place at his house last weekend, but refused to discuss any details of the case.
The front gates of Kane’s home were closed Friday morning. A vehicle with Illinois plates registered to Kane was in the driveway, however nobody answered the door.
“Well as far as them making no comment to the press, if it was your regular “Joe Blow” or an average person the press would have no interest in it whatsoever so I think they’re handling it in the same way as anybody else” said John Elmore.
The Buffalo News was the first to report an investigation is underway Thursday morning.
The Chicago Blackhawks released a statement saying, “We are aware of the matter and are in the process of fathering information”. “It would be inappropriate to comment further at this time”.
Kane, a member of the 2010 and 2014 U.S. Olympic hockey teams who signed an eight-year, $84 million contract with the Blackhawks last summer, has not been charged with any crime.
Neighbors tell 7 Eyewitness News that detectives were seen at Kane’s home on Sunday. A message read “Resident Busy” and then a prompt came up to leave a voicemail.
Patrick Kane, right, hoisted the Stanley Cup with teammate Jonathan Toews.
When news broke that Blackhawks star Patrick Kane might be the subject of a police investigation in Buffalo, fans had a tough time believing it. NBC 5’s Christian Farr reports. The Hockey Hall of Fame says the cup is in the Buffalo area, but whether it makes its appearance will come from Blackhawks management. But it wasn’t without some controversy.
