Dre announced the imminent release of his third album, Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre, which came with the news that he’s ditched the long-brewing full-length Detox.

Dr. Dre, who released the album first on the new Apple Music streaming platform, has pledged to donate all his royalties to build a performing arts center in Compton.
Dre (whose real name is Andre Young) surprised fans when he announced recently that he was scrapping his long-awaited “Detox” album in favor of “Compton“.
According to Complex, Dre called into Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio show to talk about the soundtrack, which drops this Friday, August 7, a week before the NWA bio-pic hits theaters.
Compton is now set to be released on the Australian iTunes store on Sunday, 9th August.
The six times Grammy award victor also revealed that the new album was inspired by the N.W.A. biopic “Straight Outta Compton“.

Now a 50-year-old Dre – with a reported nine-figure net worth – returns to present us with his self-described “grand finale”, Compton, named for his hometown.
