Nintendo Plans To Release Mini NES Classic Edition

Nintendo has announced they are re-launching this gaming system, albeit in a far cuter palm-sized version, and for just $60 (approximately Rs 4,000.) It’s called the Nintendo Classic Mini and It’s nearly too good to be true. The new console will come preinstalled with 30 classic games such as Mario Bros 1,2 and 3, Punch Out, Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong and Final Fantasy.

“We wanted to give fans of all ages the opportunity to revisit Nintendo’s original system and rediscover why they fell in love with Nintendo in the first place”, stated Reggie Fils-Aime, president and chief operating officer of Nintendo of America in a statement.

The console comes with a NES-style controller which can also be used when playing Virtual Console games with a Wii or Wii U. Remember how frustrating it was having to start a game all over every time you turned your console off or lost a life?

Alas, nope. The NES Mini is what it is: a static glimpse back through time at milestones like Super Mario Bros. The new console will have the same controls as the original console, though it will come with a HDMI cable for a better gaming experience.

They have since revealed further details of the system, including the list of games, which features expected classics like the first three Super Mario Bros titles, Metroid, Kid Icarus, Donkey Kong, The Legend Of Zelda and Zelda II: The Adventure Of Link. This mini-NES definitely looks the part, but we’re gutted that it won’t work with old NES cartridges.

Linking the NES controller to a Wii remote allows you to play an emulated version of the bundled NES games on Nintendo’s modern consoles as well. Before you scream at your display, you will also get Super Mario Bros, SMB 2, and SMB3 along with Tecmo Bowl. The “new” console will launch on November 11.
