Britons ‘do not want a second European Union referendum’
Labour leadership hopeful Owen Smith has said it would be “tempting” to stop the United Kingdom from leaving the European Union if he became Prime Minister.

Attacking Jeremy Corbyn for being anti-austerity without bringing forward an alternative, Mr Smith will pledge to invest the money into the country’s “failing” infrastructure.
The Times has reported that more than half of Labour MPs are expected to break ranks with their leader and support the nuclear deterrent.
“We need to come to some idea of what we’re actually getting”.
“That’s what I will be doing throughout this campaign; setting out the vision and policies that can unite the party and lead us into government”.
He said: “I think that would be very tempting for the Labour Party as we are a party that believes in being in the EU”.
Last week, Swansea East Labour Party held a vote in which members voted unanimously in favour of a resolution confirming support for Mr Corbyn.
“It was a mistake of Jeremy’s to say that”.
Laying out his position, he added: “I want all nuclear weapons in our country and across the world to be got rid of, I don’t think that we make that more likely by unilaterally disarming ourselves”.
“I don’t want to make a big deal of this, I just want them to think again”.
I am so proud to be launching my campaign to be Labour leader and the next Labour Prime Minister in my home town of Pontypridd.
Meanwhile, the SNP called on Prime Minister Theresa May to delay the parliamentary debate on Trident until the full cost is known.
More than a third (34%) said Mr Smith has a better chance than Mr Corbyn (27%) with a similar figure for Angela Eagle (36% to 32%).
So we not only have the best opposition to the Tories imaginable, but get this rotten government out and return Labour to power.
“We can not present ourselves as a government in waiting without leadership and a leadership team that commands the respect and support of not only members….but Labour voters and potential Labour voters”, she wrote in an e-mail to party members.
However, it was unclear if such a vote would be binding on the loser to back out of the race to try and topple Mr Corbyn.
THE city’s Labour party has been suspended by its national bosses over safety concerns for its members in the wake of last week’s executive elections.
They pointed out that Mr Corbyn was put in the top job after winning overwhelming support from party members – a vote of more than 251,000 members.
