Coroner says slain Ohio motorist’s bottle not booze
UC police had said after the July 19 shooting of 43-year-old Samuel DuBose that he produced a bottle of alcohol during the traffic stop.

For his release from custody the bond was set for 1 million dollars.
Dubose had been pulled over for a missing front license plate in July. Tensing fired one shot, which struck DuBose in the head, killing him. Law enforcement agencies around the country, including several around Tampa Bay, have responded in varying degrees by purchasing body cameras. That’s more than double the number of stops made in 2013, when the UCPD first entered into an agreement with the Cincinnati Police Department that allowed campus officers to patrol some municipal police districts within the city. Tensing’s claim that DuBose had started to drive off and drag him down the road was shown to be completely false.
Robanious said depending on whether or not Tensing testifies in his current murder trial, the same text messages could be used against him again.
Of course police officers, like all people, deserve due process and the presumption of innocence when they are prosecuted and processed through the criminal justice system. “And when you look at, for example, the videos in New York earlier this year and you see that no charge was brought, there was a great sense that maybe justice was not done”. The Dubose family finally has some answers-but unfortunately, too many families are left without them. Protests in the wake of police murders in cities across the U.S. have helped focus public attention on the epidemic of racist police violence and put pressure on city officials to take responsibility for their police. (Tensing) feared for his life. The Cincinnati Police Department has agreed to increase its patrols outside the boundaries of campus in the interim.
“I think he lost his temper because Mr DuBose wouldn’t get out of his vehicle”.
Cincinnati Police Chief Jeffrey Blackwell agreed, saying “I can’t lie – I’m a little bit concerned about the numbers and the discrepancy in the culture and race of the drivers that are stopped”.
The recent indictment of a University of Cincinnati police officer in the shooting death of an unarmed man illustrates the helpful role police body cameras can play in sorting out the truth.

Deters was unsparing in his criticism of the unaccredited police department that gave Tensing a badge and firearm.
