N’Golo Kante: ‘Antonio Conte convinced me to join Chelsea’

He’s not the kind of man who will say: “‘Coach I want to leave.’ He is happy here”, he told the media.

Chelsea saw off reported competition from Juventus, Arsenal and Shanghai SIPG to make Kante second signing of the summer transfer window after the acquisition of Belgium global striker Michy Batshuayi for a fee of £33m at the start of July.

After signing a five-year deal, Kante insisted he would never forget his time at Leicester, but said Conte’s team were the most likely to match his personal ambitions.

The prices being talked about are a £35 million transfer fee and wages of around £120,000 a week, which is well within our capabilities, so is this the Arsenal striker signing we have been waiting for?

The Blues completed a £32million swoop for Kante from Leicester on Saturday, with the player becoming the second new arrival at Stamford Bridge under the Italian’s charge following the recent £33million outlay on Michy Batshuayi.

Kante wrote on Twitter: “The 2015-16 past season will remain as an important season for me as a football player”.

The Algerian winger was named as the PFA Player of the Year last season in his side’s surprise Premier League title success, showcasing wonderful skill and penetration in the final third for the Foxes.

Last term, Chelsea fans were forced to endure lacklustre performances from the previously outstanding Nemanja Matic, who looked a shadow of the former dominant, archetype, modern day midfield player we had seen during their title-winning campaign.

Kante said: “I am so happy to have signed for one of the biggest clubs in Europe”.

Chelsea are delighted with their purchase, with technical director Michael Emenalo adding: “N’Golo is a fantastic signing ahead of the new season and we are delighted to have been able to bring such a talented player to the club”.

‘The club’s project and the coach’s speech have convinced me to join this new ambitious adventure’. We are buying into what the manager wants us to do, working hard to try and improve and work in a different way.
