The palace confirmed in a brief, formal statement that “the Right Honorable David Cameron MP had an Audience of The Queen this evening and tendered his resignation as Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury, which Her Majesty was graciously pleased to accept.”. It is easy to say but hard to do,”the 49-year-old said before getting into waiting cars to be driven to Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen, as per PTI”.

The Camerons youngest daughter has spent her entire life on Downing Street, as she was born four months after her father became Prime Minister in 2010.

“And I know because this is Great Britain, we will rise to the challenge as we leave the European Union, we will forge a bold new positive role for ourselves in the world, and we will make Britain a country that works not for a privileged few but for every one of us”.

George Osborne, who had been tipped for the Foreign Office, instead joins Mr Cameron on the backbenches, amid claims he was sacked.

Having accepted the Queen’s invitation to form a new administration, Theresa May arrived at 10 Downing Street accompanied by her husband Phillip May.

His final episode was filled with one-liners, outpourings and even a declaration of love (for Larry, the No 10 cat, of whom he produced a photograph).

Mr Cameron said: “I want to thank my children – Nancy, Elwen and Florence – for whom Downing Street has been a lovely home over these last six years”. Observers are keen to see if she appoints former London Mayor Boris Johnson and Justice Secretary Michael Gove, onetime Conservative leadership contenders who jointly headed the “leave” campaign but then turned on one another. “I too have a mandate, and that mandate is to respect the wishes of the people in Scotland and now to find a way to keep Scotland in the European Union”, she said.

He told the packed House of Commons: “I will watch these exchanges from the backbenches, I will miss the roar of the crowd, I will miss the barbs from the Opposition, but I will be willing you on”.

He praised the “national treasure” of the NHS and the strengthening of Britain’s defences. But today the country is much stronger; our economy is immeasurably stronger…For me politics has always been about public service in the national interest. “The residents of No. 10 Downing Street have enjoyed meals from the Kennington Tandoori since the restaurant opened in 1985 and the KT would hope that they continue to do so”, the restaurant said. The legendary Humphrey, a stray who took up residence under prime minister Margaret Thatcher and outstayed John Major, was sent into retirement in 1997 by Tony Blair, amid persistent speculation that his wife Cherie forced him out.

“From the introduction of same-sex marriage to taking people with low wages out of income tax all together, David Cameron has led a one-nation government”, she said.
