Apple wireless AirPods expected to launch alongside iPhone 7

Mac Rumors also added that Apple, reportedly, once planned to ship the new phone with the wireless earbuds, but it was later changed due to supply issues with the accessory. In the past, similar instances of the use of such strategy were discovered through a leak – the patent for “iPad” and “CarPlay” ended up to have been officially used after all, while the likes of the name “iWatch” was never brought to life. This would mean the company would have to revamp its EarPods earbuds. This week’s filing was signed by Jonathan Brown, a “manager” for Entertainment in Flight, and it’s the first time we’ve seen a name associated with the trademark application other than outside attorneys handling the case.

Rumors of Apple entirely ditching and moving on from the use the standard 3.5 mm headphone jack have just gotten stronger, as patent applications which are allegedly from the Cupertino-based company have emerged, pointing to a possible wireless headset going by the name of “AirPods”.

Now, according to MacRumors, Apple’s trademark for “AirPods” is making its way through the trademark registry. The company also filed a trademark for the term “iWatch” in the past, but obviously they made a decision to go with Apple Watch instead.

Even though Bluetooth enabled AirPods will be launched in September, there is no official confirmation regarding when the product will be available for sale. It is called “AirPods”, and the site suggests that it could be the company’s optional listening device for the next iPhone that does not include a headphone port.

Considering that without the 3.5mm port on the phone, iPhone users will have to be dependent on either the connecting pin, or a Lightning connector that might get placed on the bottom of the phone.
