Von Miller agrees to largest defensive contract in NFL
“This is something I really wanted-to stay with the Denver Broncos”. “I’m going to work hard to be the best player I can be for the New England Patriots and I look forward to having the opportunity to return to the field this fall”.

Miller thanked team owner Pat Bowlen, president and CEO Joe Ellis, general manager John Elway and coach Gary Kubiak “for making this possible”.
“While disappointed to hear the news regarding Aaron today, we support and respect the league’s decision”, general manager Trent Baalke said in a statement.
Miller, who skipped out on all of the Broncos offseason practices, said he’s excited to “get back to work”. Branion continued to push Elway and tried to get Miller more guaranteed dollars in a proposal with multiple options.
The blockbuster deal includes a $23 million signing bonus and will pay Miller $61 million over the first eight months. The only player with more guaranteed money is Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, the league’s highest-paid player.
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – Super Bowl MVP Von Miller practiced both pirouettes and patience this offseason.
Kirk Cousins, Alshon Jeffery, Eric Berry and Trumaine Johnson, however, will all be playing this season under the value of their tags after they and their teams failed to agree on long-term contracts by the NFL’s deadline Friday. Elway wouldn’t budge, but the two sides eventually got the deal done.
Since the National Football League scouting combine began at the end of February, the Broncos and Miller’s representatives have tried to negotiate a long-term deal.
Edge rusher Miller was a vital cog and showcased his destructive ability on the biggest stage, with the Broncos shutting down the NFL’s premier offense in a 24-10 victory.
Miller and Broncos finally came to an agreement on a six-year, $114.5 million deal with $70 million guaranteed. He’ll be another year older, though, and maybe teams won’t want to offer as much guaranteed money.
In that deal, Cox received $36.299 million in guaranteed money at signing and an additional $19.25 million in salary guarantees in March 2017, for $55.549 million in guarantees within nine months of signing.
It is the richest contract at any position other than quarterback. Amerson originally signed a four-year, $3.85 million deal coming out of North Carolina State.
$70 million of that is said to be guaranteed.
Despite Miller’s saying he expected negotiations to be “peaceful” and that he “trusted” Elway things had gotten emotional in recent weeks. Miller and his team of representatives weren’t biting, though, pointing to Cox’s six-year, $102.6 million deal with Philadelphia. As a result, Miller made it far easier for his teammates to rack up sacks.
Miller would turn to Twitter, saying there is: “No Chance I play the 2016 season under the Franchise tag”.

The two of them patched up their differences as talks reignited and the man Elway has called the best player he’s ever seen will be back in uniform when the Broncos report to training camp.
