Pokémon GO becomes the biggest mobile game in United States of America history

Although this may not sound like a lot, 26 million people played Pokemon Go yesterday in the USA, meaning that the game made more than $6.5 million dollars in a day.

“Within three days of its release, Pokémon GO attracted more users than Twitter, and rose to the top of the App Store revenue charts, earning millions of dollars a day for its publisher, Niantic”, the survey firm said in a blog post.

An important thing to note is that Candy Crush had 93 million total daily active users at its peak on a global basis, but this report is for the U.S. only.

Since its launch, some Pokemon GO players have been touting the popularity of the new augmented reality game, but now it looks like they might have some data to back up that claim now.

According to the unfortunately-named SurveyMonkey, the game that basically merges Google Maps with a scavenger hunt for animated characters with names like Muk, Sandshrew, and Snorlax already has almost 21 million daily active users. It is also worth noting that Pokemon Go already has more than 10 million installs on Android alone. Ironically, people are using maps to find Pokémon more than anything else. Given some time and continued updates with the addition of more features and gameplay elements, there’s no reason Pokemon GO should be able to climb further up the DAU ladder. Whether you’re someone who grew up with Pokemon as a kid when it was still fresh, or you’ve now got kids of your own who are also fans of the franchise, there’s no doubting that the game has swept the country and other parts of the globe internationally.
