City police chief Azhar Akram said: “Waseem killed her by covering her mouth and nose after which he fled to Dera Ghazi Khan with two of his friends”.

After murdering Qandeel on Friday night at her family’s home near Multan, Wasim went on the run and was arrested late Saturday in neighboring Muzaffargarh district.

While Baloch’s death is sure to impact the 750K lives she’s touched to date (and more), authorities are confident they will apprehend the bright light’s killer, who escaped following the crime.

Qandeel’s brother had been threatening her over her Facebook posts and videos, said the police. This conduct, however, has provoked a lot of typical conservatives who were never pleased by her ideologies, her own brother included.

Wasim told reporters that he drugged her and then strangled his sister to death.

The social media star, who has been dubbed the nation’s Kim Kardashian, posted one last message to her almost 750,000 followers on Facebook on Monday, July 4.

Now, in just 24 hours’ time, her death is sweeping the world as a horrific example of what’s being termed an honor killing in the name of religion.

“I am not embarrassed at all over what I did”, the brother of the slain woman admitted, saying that Baloch’s actions were “intolerable“.

The 25 year old Baloch was from the Punjabi town of Kot Addu and had risen to fame due to the increasingly political, videos that she had posted on Facebook.

The killing has reignited debate in Pakistan with many residents calling for an anti-honour killing law, aimed at closing a loophole that allows family members to forgive the killers. Hundreds of women are murdered for “honour” every year in Pakistan.
