Amy Schumer close to tears in call for tighter gun control laws
New York Senator Chuck Schumer is enlisting the help of a famous relative to make the case for tougher gun laws. The comic has unexpectedly found herself caught up in the ongoing debate on gun violence in the US, after John Russell Houser shot 11 people at a cinema in Lafayette, Louisiana, during a screening of Trainwreck, on 23 July.

“We’re right here to say sufficient is sufficient”, the senator stated in a press convention together with his well-known cousin in New York on Monday.
“We always find out how the shooter got their gun”, she continues, “and it’s always something that never should have happened in the first place”.
Senator Schumer said his cousin Amy is a flawless spokesperson for the issue of gun control and said he is grateful to have her collaboration.
When asked by a reporter if she thought the shooting was in retaliation to her comedy, which very vocally supports feminism, Schumer said, “I got about a million emails from friends telling me it could’ve been any movie – I’m trying to believe that, but I’m not sure”.
Amy Schumer’s phone rang recently. “We can’t sit back and let mass shooting become commonplace”.
“The critics scoff and say there is no way to stop insane people from doing insane things but they are wrong, there is a way to stop them”, said Amy Schumer.
Comedian Amy Schumer has delivered an emotional address calling for tighter gun controls in America after the fatal shooting of two women at a cinema screening her latest movie.
According to the Associated Press, the legislative plan from Sen. Amy Schumer responded to Clements via Twitter saying “Don’t worry I’m on it. You’ll see”.
At the news conference, Senator Schumer, a Democrat, said he plans to introduce legislation that would offer incentives to states to share histories of domestic violence and mental problems with the Justice Department, which administers background checks for gun purchasers.

The proposed legislation sets out to reward states that submit information to a background-check system and penalise those states that do not comply. Schumer last week called on the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the agency responsible for vetting potential gun buyers, to investigate how the Lafayette shooter was able to obtain a firearm, despite having an arson charge and involuntary commitment on his record. Lastly, Amy and Chuck called on Congress to fully fund mental health and substance abuse programs in order to curb the odds of such tragedies from happening in the future.
