Roma sign ‘best Egyptian player in world’

The winger will spend the 2015/16 campaign on loan at the Stadio Olimpico and the agreement includes an option to purchase at any point during the season.

The winger has completed his switch from Chelsea and is determined to challenge for the Serie A title after finally resolving his future.

Salah arrived at Chelsea in January 2014, becoming the first Egyptian to play for the club.

After impressing for Basel against Chelsea in Europe, Salah moved to Stamford Bridge and was handed his debut in the Premier League by José Mourinho at the age of 21.

A statement on the official Roma website said: “Salah is regarded by many as the best Egyptian player in the world right now”.

Citing his short stints at Chelsea and Fiorentina the last two seasons, respectively, Salah explained the importance of the long-term deal with Roma by saying, “We never know what will happen next season”.

Salah spent last season on loan at Fiorentina, where he had six goals and three assists in 16 appearances.

The announcement puts an end to one of the window’s longest running transfer sagas, although many Giallorossi fans had already begun celebrating after their new signing had suggested at a move all week on his Twitter account.
