Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane accused of rape by woman, 26

The Chicago Blackhawks have remained quiet on the revelation that star Patrick Kane is the subject of a rape investigation in his native Buffalo, but rumors indicate that the team could be left in limbo as to his future. Hamburg police, according to the report, is investigating Kane after a local woman has accused Kane of a sexual assault. Kane and his cousin pleaded guilty to a disorderly conduct charge, a non-criminal violation.

The National Hockey League says it is “following developments” of a police investigation involving Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane, Thursday, August 6, 2015.

The ongoing investigation is taking place roughly 20 minutes south of Buffalo in the town of Hamburg, New York Kane has a residence in Hamburg.

The Blackhawks said in a statement Thursday: “We are aware of the matter and are in the process of gathering information”. The Chicago Sun-Times and WKBW-TV both report that the two may have met at a beach bar in Evans, New York The station called Mickey Rat’s Beach Club, which we’ve been told is a semi-regular hangout of Kane’s, but the manager said that he didn’t recall seeing Kane there on Saturday night. “We will have no further comment on this investigation at this time“.

Kane had his issues in the past, including his arrest in the summer of 2009 for attacking a cab driver.

For now, Kane has not been officially charged with anything.

The Buffalo News reported the 26-year-old forward is being investigated in Hamburg, where he lives during the offseason.

Brisson then added: “It would not be appropriate to provide further comment at this time”. That neighbor was informed by police they were aware of what was happening at Kane’s home at that time.

At a news conference this morning, officials said they are waiting for forensic test result, but offered no other details.

Buffalo lawyer Paul Cambria, who has represented Kane in the past, declined comment in a text to The Associated Press on Friday. Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita also refused to confirm nor deny any information when asked about the investigation by News 4.
