The Navy has recently contacted Naval reservists if you want to find guys to assist 45 times of “armed shield watchstander duty” initiating and this month, NBC News noted Friday.
After the attack, some armed citizens began standing guard outside the centers, where military personnel are not allowed to have weapons.
“It is being considered along with the rest of the full spectrum of force protection measures”. “Many additional measures are being considered”.
The U.S. Navy is arming some of its personnel at reserve centers in order to protect them after last month’s shooting at recruiting centers in Chattanooga, Tennessee, that killed four Marines and one sailor. The Navy Reserve has 123 support centers in the U.S., Guam and Puerto Rico, and only 53 of them are on military bases.
Since the Chattanooga attack, armed citizens have stationed themselves outside recruitment centers to offer protection even though military officials have been trying to discourage vigilantism, UPI reports. He said their presence, “while well intentioned, will be counterproductive to our recruiting operations”.
