Why Sania Mirza can’t stop gushing about Roger Federer
Bollywood’s Badshah Shah Rukh Khan praised Indian women’s grit, determination and hard work as he launched tennis star Sania Mirza’s the autobiography, Ace Against Odds, in Hyderabad on Wednesday. For those who are unaware, the incident that has caused a lot of hullabaloo is tennis ace Sania Mirza’s interview with TV journalist Rajdeep Sardesai.

Appreciating Sania’s grit, determination and love for the sport to rise to the top ranking in doubles game despite her injury, he said Sania had an injury and she could not continue with the singles career but she twisted it around and she became the No. 1 in doubles. Because I am close to 30 and have done three surgeries, my body feels like 50 and I am not playing forever.
“Prarthana is a young girl”. The 29-year-old recalls in her book that Federer’s “warmth and care” for his colleagues separates him from others and makes the Swiss Maestro one of kind. “But no, I don’t think I am going to be doing that”.
“You don’t think I’m settled?”
When asked if it would have been better had a sports person released the book, Sania said, “Who knows, may be it would have been, but I am very close friends with them”.
Tennis ace Sania Mirza will be busy slugging it out in the mixed doubles and women’s doubles at Rio Olympics to earn a medal for India, but the Hyderabadi player revealed that she will root for the national hockey team whenever she gets an opportunity from her busy schedule. “Rucha said rather indignantly as soon as Roger had left the table”, Sania recollects.
“I couldn’t have thought of a better person to do it (the launch). But we are moving towards providing assistance to sportspersons and I hope to contribute in every possible way”. “She has been around me for a long time and hopefully that experience should help her”.
Asked how will she react if she faces her doubles partner Martina Hingis on the opposite side, Sania said, “I have already faced her twice this year – in Australian Open and French Open”. So, we have to go out and give our best and whoever is better on that day wins.

Salman Khan said that he has known Sania for 14 years, they share an incredible friendship and he truly believes that if Sania makes up her mind to enter the film industry, she will do wonders. “I promise, you’re right, I wouldn’t have asked that to a male athlete”. For me I felt like so good time to do it. I have a lot of stories to tell and have been able to tell. “If I have more, we can always write a sequel”.
