Mr. Loomis told Fox that attorneys for the union were drafting a letter to Mr. Kasich asking him to take emergency action to temporarily suspend state laws that allow the open carry of firearms in Cuyahoga County for the week of the convention, which is set to open Monday.

In a statement, Governor Kasich denied the request saying that “Ohio governors do not have the power to arbitrarily suspend constitutional rights as suggested by police union”. Barring a small “secure zone” inside and around the Quicken Loans, a premier sports and entertainment facility in northeast OH, walking with firearm is allowed around the city, including in the event zone. We’re going to have two very passionate groups on opposite sides of the world as far as ideologies go.

“Nothing has changed because I still feel the same way, our message will still be the same”, Porter said on Sunday afternoon.

Just in time for the arrival of 50,000 Republican National Convention visitors, Destination Cleveland launched this weekend a new mobile app that will help tourists and locals alike find recommended restaurants, attractions and events. “Everyone has an important role to play in that renewal”.

Shane Chodok, a 43-year-old maintenance worker at Cleveland State University and Trump supporter, said he supported open carry activists, though he was not carrying a weapon on Sunday. “Our message is not to go out there and start murdering police officers”.

Williams said police have changed their tactics in response to recent attacks including the one in Nice, France, on July 14 by placing barriers or barricades at key streets and intersections downtown. In addition to 1,300 Cleveland Police officers, thousands of officers from other jurisdictions, including the Secret Service and Federal Bureau of Investigation will be assisting in keeping the peace.

“Don’t tell me it can’t be done”, Loomis said of his request to Kasich. Other members of a northeast OH open carry group were supposed to join him.

Guns are banned inside the center, where Donald Trump is expected to accept the Republican Party’s nomination Thursday evening. It’s irresponsible of those folks – especially right now – to be coming downtown with open carry AR’s or anything else.

“We have planned, we have ‘what-if’ed, ‘ we have table-topped this from day one to yesterday, and everything that can and will happen we have planned for”, Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams said last week. “They’ve been planning their security around that issue”. If you don’t have open carry, what do you have?
