“We run out the front, and here he was walking in the store with the Stanley Cup”, MacFarlane said Friday afternoon.
Tens of thousands of those fans gathered along the streets of Cole Harbour and outside local arena Cole Harbour Place under the piercing, mid-day summer sun to welcome the Pittsburgh Pengions captain and the Cup back to his proud hometown.
“I had never seen it before, it was awesome”.
But then, of course, he’s Sidney Crosby.
The proud captain paraded the Stanley Cup through his hometown for the second time in his career on Saturday, hoisting the Cup in the back of a pickup truck as it maneuvered through the 1.1-mile celebration that featured thousands of screaming fans.
PAL Airlines tweeted a photo of Crosby, the Cup and an unidentified man in an orange safety vest with thanks for visiting their offices.
Video posted on social media showed him plunking the Cup down on the order counter, as staff and about two dozen customers slowly became aware of who had arrived. But this time around, Crosby brought home a little something extra the Conn Smythe Trophy for the MVP of the playoffs. “All the girls were all excited and happy”, MacFarlane said.

He brought the Cup into the Sidney Crosby Hockey School – taking place this week at the Cole Harbour Place arena for the second year in a row – much to the delight of young players. He strapped in the Cup very tight for the trip back home. The first was in 2009, when Crosby’s team won the cup.
