Speculation continues that Indiana Governor could be Donald Trump’s VP pick
Regardless, Trump is running out of time to circle one name on that VP list.

Chuck Grassley said during a conference call with news outlets that Ernst had withdrawn her name from consideration as a vice-presidential pick, the first-term senator from Red Oak released a statement confirming that she planned to stay in the U.S. Senate.
Joni Ernst, a Republican senator from Iowa, is on the list of potential vice presidents under consideration by Donald Trump, who met with her in New Jersey on Monday. “We had a very open conversation about that, and actually, we have been very candid about it from the very beginning of our meetings. It was a good experience, but I just knew in my heart that the type of service that I’m cut out to provide is just different than being a vice presidential candidate” Corker said.
But she told Politico:”I made that very clear to him that I’m focused on Iowa”.
“I’ve figured out the reason why you love him so much”, the senator told the crowd. “They’re so excited, and I truly believe he has such an opportunity ahead”.
Others on Trump’s running mate list include IN governor Mike Pence, who Trump met with on Saturday, New Jersey governor Chris Christie, Oklahoma governor Mary Fallin and United States senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama.
Grassley says Ernst’s military and legislative experience, and her expertise as someone from a rural, agricultural state would be assets to the NY real estate mogul.
The two have also been friends more than a decade, giving Christie the upper-hand if Trump decides to go with the candidate he feels he knows best. In the meantime, “I will probably participate more as an advocate”.
Donald Trump’s vice presidential search will culminate in picking a victor among a clash of styles after winnowing down his list of potential Republican running mates. “I think Mike Pence rings the most bells of all”.
Ernst repeated what she told reporters in Washington, D.C. earlier today, that the Trump campaign has not given her any documents to fill out that would be the basis for the background checks potential vice presidential running mates are required to undergo.
But who would be Trump’s running mate is also a question of who would take the job in light of many Republicans’ ambivalence about his candidacy.

Trump could announce his choice of a running mate before the party’s convention to help drum up excitement heading into Cleveland, a source familiar with the process told CNN on Friday.
