Cowboys sign veteran linebacker Justin Durant
They can keep McClain on the roster and hope he makes an impact in the final stretch of the season when the Cowboys are in the hunt for a playoff spot, or they can cut ties with him now.

The Dallas Cowboys made a move today and signed veteran linebacker Justin Durant to help provide experience to the linebacker position.
Durant played two seasons in Dallas, starting 16 games, including at middle linebacker.
The Cowboys did at least draft Jaylon Smith this year, but Smith isn’t expected to play this season due to a knee injury. Then he was suspended for 10 games.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones remains the biggest supporter for McClain, who came out of retirement in 2014.
Durant, 30, started 12 games for the Atlanta Falcons a season ago, recording 81 tackles and three passes defended.
Unfortunately, injuries have been a reoccurring theme for Durant throughout his career in the National Football League, but the Cowboys obviously believe he can help the defense in 2016.
Jones admitted to The Fort Worth (Texas) Star-Telegram his disappointment with McClain, who was suspended for four games last season. Within the team, Anthony Hitchens seems like the most likely player to see extended time at Major League Baseball with McClain serving the 10-game suspension. He had 80 tackles with two sacks and one interception in 11 games last season.

To make room for Durant on the 90-man roster, defensive tackle Casey Walker was released.
