The letter-writer acknowledged that the most recent season of Amy Schumer’s Comedy Central series also touched upon the issue.

Rather than making a statement, this is a choice that really serves the story. She noted that she has received death threats and “a lot of hate directed toward me, but…”
But this leads the movie to lose any aesthetic style or consistency. “These shootings have got to stop”, she said. Schumer said. “How many breaking news flashes will it take for Congress to act?”
While Senator Schumer has long been an advocate for gun control, the issue became “extremely personal” for the actress after a mass shooting left two dead and nine injured. Since the promotion began for her movie “Trainwreck”, the comedienne has been on every station, every talk show and now, involved in politics?
Schumer’s proposed legislation would also reward states that submit information into a background check system and penalize states that do not.
“These are not extreme ideas, and what Chuck is describing, they’re sensible measures and restrictions and no one wants to live in a country where a felon, the mentally ill or other unsafe people can get their hands on a gun with such ease”, said Schumer.
The comedienne joined her cousin, Senator Chuck Schumer, as he unveiled a set of proposals to beef up background checks on gun buyers.
Sen. Schumer is trying to establish financial incentives to encourage states to cooperate with the gun background check system. Charles Schumer said. “How many tears?”
“These are my first public comments on the issue of gun violence, but I promise you they will not be my last”, said Schumer.
“My heart goes out to Jillian and Mayci, to the survivors, to the families, and everyone who was tied to the tragic, senseless, and horrifying actions of this man who shouldn’t have been able to put his hands on a gun in the first place”, a visibly upset Amy said. Schumer, who “didn’t want to say” the gunman’s name, says she thinks about those victims everyday.
Third, he has asked Congress to increase funding for mental-health and substance-abuse programs. Amy’s great-grandfather and the senator’s grandfather were brothers. He said that when his nephew started college last fall, his roommates wanted to know if he was related to Amy.

The senator said he and Amy’s dad used to “play stickball” together when they were growing up.
