U.S. concerned over ongoing violence in Indian-held Kashmir
At least 20 people have been killed and more than 300 injured since Friday in clashes between protesters and security forces in Indian-administered Kashmir, according to police.

On Saturday, police had said that angry crowds set fire to three police stations and two government buildings south of Srinagar, and blocked roads.
People in large number on Bikes, private vehicles, load carriers and other transports reached to Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district while carrying banners and flags in their hands.
A curfew is in place across much of the Muslim-majority Kashmir valley after a police post was set alight and a military airbase targeted during the latest clashes. Hospitals across the valley continued to receive injured civilians with the overall tally crossing 1500 so far.
The Kashmir valley has been on a boil since as widespread protests were carried out over Wani’s killing with many separatists’ calling for a shutdown.
21-year-old Burhan, who shot to fame after his videos asking youth in Kashmir to join militancy appeared on social media, was cornered in Bumdoora village of Kokernag Friday morning by a joint team of police and Army.
Across Kashmir on Tuesday, shops were shuttered, businesses closed and cellphone and mobile Internet services were suspended in parts of the region.
A Hizb spokesman in a statement said Hizb command Council met under the chairmanship of outfit’s supreme commander Syed Salah-ud-Din at Muzaffarabad in Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK) and made a decision to appoint new commander in Kashmir to replace Burhan.
Meanwhile, a protest demonstration organized by APHC-AJK Chapter was held outside the UN Observers Mission in Islamabad against the martyrdom of 32 Kashmiri protesters.
Senior Minister, Jitendra Singh, said that the Premier, Narendra Modi, held a high-level meeting to review the security situation in Kashmir and appealed to people there to maintain peace.
Disputed Kashmir is claimed in its entirety by both India and Pakistan and has been a flashpoint for more than 60 years, sparking two wars between the countries.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon also expressed concern about the violence.
