Two key Maryland delegates oppose Republican convention rules
Over angry and prolonged objections from anti-Donald Trump forces, Republican Party leaders approved rules for their national convention on Monday and rejected demands for a state-by-state roll call vote, a discordant start to a gathering created to project unity.

The co-chair, State Rep. John Cabello, a Rockford police detective now on leave, commented at an Illinois Republican Party breakfast at the convention.
“I have never in all my life, in six years in the Senate, seen anything like this”, said Sen.
There is one major celebrity who will be at the convention, of course: Donald J. Trump. But a number of delegates and Republicans say they can disagree with Trump on certain issues but want to unite behind him to beat presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in November.
“The Romney folks gave us 400 extra passes”, Palatucci said.
According to Pew, even most Republican voters, 79 per cent who did not support Trump through the primaries are backing him in the general election against Clinton. This is quite a significant jump in support for Trump in the past one year.
The rules package maintains that delegates must remain bound to their particular candidate and can not vote their “conscience”.
The roll call vote on the nomination was expected Tuesday, with Trump scheduled to close the convention with an acceptance speech late Thursday.
For the first time in a long time, CT is out in front. He has claimed friendship with the likes of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, and yet there are no plans for Brady to attend the convention, let alone speak.
Colorado State Rep. Justin Everett, a Cruz supporter, said some of the state’s delegation briefly walked out, but returned in time for the motion to reconsider.
“A convention shouldn’t be a coronation”, said Glasscock.
In the letter – which is also signed by Kendal Unruh of Colorado and 11 others – Ambrose and Crawford object to the “centralization of authority exclusively in the chairman’s office”, provisions that make it harder for party members to contact rules committee members and “denying RNC members the needed opportunity to review rules changes before they go to an immediate vote”. “I’m sure it’s going to be one of the things at the top”.
As the seating arrangements have been released at the Republican National Convention, Connecticut is literally in the front row – in front of the stage.
Former presidential candidate Texas Sen.
Donald Trump will begin the next crucial phase of his pursuit to become U.S. president by going back to his reality TV roots.
Republican pollster Whit Ayres – author of 2016 and Beyond, which in the wake of the 2012 defeat urged the GOP to focus on appealing to the nation’s increasingly diverse electorate – is skeptical Trump can overcome his past provocative statements about women and others.
Official vendors at the Freedom Plaza Marketplace outside the Quicken Loans Arena here in Cleveland are barred from selling anything bearing Donald Trump’s name.

“We think that the unification is happening”, he said.
