A Texas man who pleaded guilty to assaulting his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend has been sentenced to life – in matrimony.

If Bundy didn’t make Jaynes his wife within 30 days, he would have to serve 15 days in jail, the judge said. Bundy told the Tyler television station that the ex was “saying disrespectful things” about Jaynes and admitted he eventually punched the ex in the jaw.

Even though the judge ordered Bundy to get married, the couple was not given long to plan the wedding. Most people haven’t, but one East Texas couple was forced to get married by a judge after a misdemeanor court case.

Bundy said he Wednesday 19-year-old Elizabeth Jaynes shortly after Rogers ordered the ultimatum, fearing the threatened jail term.

Aside from the fact that the judge sounds like a complete idiot who is very pleased with himself, and the fact that marriage isn’t a suitable punishment for a crime, Rogers also treated Jaynes like an object.

“I took matters into my own hands and I know that’s wrong”, Bundy told KLTV. “[The judge] can’t do this by court ordering somebody to be married”, said Kenneth Jaynes.

The ex wasn’t seriously hurt in the brawl but decided to press charges anyway.

“I said, well to be honest, sir, I was raised with four sisters and if any man was talking to a woman like that,” Bundy stated, “I’d probably do the same thing.”

“My face was so red, people behind me were laughing”, Jaynes told KLTV.

“I didn t even have a white dress”.

After the sentencing hearing, the couple applied for a marriage license and was later married by a justice of the peace.

A similar abuse of power happened in June, when Michigan Judge Lisa Gorcyca tried to sentence three kids to a juvenile detention center – for years – because they refused to eat lunch with their father. “They are young and they didn’t know that they had any other options”, he said.

Rogers then told Bundy he would have to marry his girlfriend within 30 days as a condition of his probation.

Most of the bride and groom’s family members were unable to attend because of the short notice. Noticeably absent were Bundy’s dad and sisters. “I would have liked a spring wedding when it’s not too hot and not too cold”.

“To say you’re not going to be criminally punished if you get married is way out of left field”, said attorney Blake Bailey.
