Palestinian toddler’s father dies after arson attack

At least five people have been wounded after Israel carried out retaliatory airstrikes against Hamas’ “terrorist infrastructure” in the Gaza strip, holding the group in charge of the enclave responsible for an attack on Israel. The remaining two rockets landed somewhere in Hamas-controlled territory in Gaza, according to the report.

Palestinian militants in Gaza fired a rocket into southern Israel on Friday, without causing casualties, the army said, in an attack claimed by jihadists. The leaflet was signed by the black and white flag of IS and the group, which claimed responsibility for firing the two rockets, called itself “the grandchildren of Mohamed’s Followers – environs of Jerusalem“.

It was not immediately clear whether the ordnance was left behind by Israeli or Palestinian forces.

Security officials said that the explosion was a result of an Israeli rocket fired on the house during the war and didn’t explode.

The home, which was struck by an Israeli air strike on July 9 of last year, belonged to Ayman Abu Nqira, a lecturer at the Islamic University of Gaza.

His wife and son remain in critical condition at Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan, near Tel Aviv but Ahmad Dawabsheh has meanwhile opened his eyes and begun to interact with his surroundings.

The 50-day conflict killed about 2,200 Palestinians, majority civilians, and 73 on the Israeli side, mostly soldiers.
