The BBC reported that local news agency DPA said the police said some of the victims’ injuries were life-threatening.
Multiple people were injured Monday night when a man attacked them with an ax on a train in southern Germany before being shot to death by police.
German emergency services workers work in the area where a man with an axe attacked passengers on a train near the city of Wuerzburg, Germany early July 19, 2016.
Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrman told media that the suspect, whose name has not been released, was a 17-year-old Afghan boy who came to Germany as an unaccompanied refugee.
Fourteen people were also being treated for shock, the AP said. “The attacker’s identity and motive are not known, Hench said”.
Following the attacks, the man left the train and went on the run. A man attacked people in a train and injured more than a dozen.

“There are witnesses that suggest there may be an Islamic background to this but that is far from clear at this point”, Herrmann said.
