Pew Plots Rise of Trump

Mr Trump is to be anointed as Republican presidential nominee at the four-day convention in Cleveland by the party once led by Abraham Lincoln, the celebrated United States president who abolished slavery in the 19th century. It’s an issue her Republican rival, Donald Trump, has seized upon throughout the campaign season, and it’s likely to come up again numerous times at the RNC.

Clinton unveiled her plan in a speech at the NAACP’s national convention in Cincinnati, where she railed against presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s record with blacks and minorities to emphasize the importance of each vote in the upcoming election. Any predictions of exactly what’s going to be happen should be taken with hefty grains of salt. Few of Sanders’ Democratic backers (17%) or non-Trump Republicans (10%) see their party as now united.

Here are 9 takeaways from Clinton’s speech today.

The former NY senator also pointed out numerous controversial remarks Trump has made over the last year – and even one he made almost 45 years ago.

“None of us can afford to be silent with so much at stake”, Clinton told the audience of hundreds of black civic leaders. Plus, the state party has struggled there, and it’s unclear if the state or national parties will invest there for the Senate race.

So we’ve moved Colorado from Toss Up to Lean D. That expands Clinton’s electoral-vote advantage to 288 to 191.

Hillary Clinton took swipes at an absent Donald Trump at the NAACP convention in Ohio Monday, telling hundreds at the event that Trump has played “coy with white supremacists, ” demeaned women, and insulted immigrants. Notice that includes OH, where the Republican convention is and neighboring Pennsylvania, which Democrats have carried since 1992.

Clinton and other officials have acknowledged inadequate security in Benghazi – a point also made by numerous congressional investigations and an independent panel.

Sean Smith, a foreign service information management officer, was killed along with U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and two Central Intelligence Agency contractors in the 2012 attack on the USA diplomatic compound in Benghazi. Because of fundamentals – demography and voting history – both are now Lean D, but could easily move to Toss Up. Clinton, however, has a 46% to 39% edge over Trump in the all-important swing states – the ten states in 2012 that were decided by less than seven points. And it’s a smart electoral strategy to galvanize the activist base of the party; Trump wants these people to not only vote for him in November, but to actively work for the Trump-Pence ticket over the next several months.

Only Clinton and Sanders posted in Spanish during the time period examined by Pew, and neither did so frequently-15 percent of Facebook posts and 6 percent of tweets for Clinton, compared with 4 percent and 5 percent, respectively, for Sanders. Though the CNN poll didn’t include this question, at least not in the results the network released yesterday, the NBC poll put the president’s approval rating at 51%, while the ABC poll showed it at 56%. (A Quinnipiac poll had Trump up 3.) Let’s see how things even out in the next month.
