On Sunday, Gavin Long of Kansas City shot to death three police officers and wounded three others in Baton Rouge, almost three weeks after a gunman killed five law enforcement officials in Dallas.

A former Marine ambushed police in Baton Rouge on Sunday, killing three law enforcement officers in the attack.

“I don’t understand why the Republicans would choose to put this on primetime television, when they have such wonderful stories of American heroism to speak to the American people”, he said.

“At times like these, we need a president who can help pull us together, not split us apart”, Clinton said.

Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton seemed to strike a powerful chord with the NAACP Annual Convention attendees on Monday, with several standing ovations, loud cheers and a crowd of fans in front of the stage taking cellphone photos. Her campaign announced a new effort to get 3 million more people registered.

Clinton’s remarks came hours before the start of the GOP convention in Cleveland, which will officially nominate billionaire Donald Trump as the party’s presidential candidate.

Clinton has counted on the support of black voters in the race against Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, said the New York Times. Fifteen percent of Clinton’s Facebook posts were in Spanish, and six percent of her Twitter posts were as well, during that period. This initiative will be kicked of with more than 500 voter registration events from college campuses to minor league baseball parks.

“Requiring accurate data on in-custody deaths like Sandra Bland”, Clinton said.

Monday’s Cincinnati visit is the former Secretary of State’s fifth trip to OH since May and fourth in the past six weeks, a sign of the state’s importance in this presidential election.

“Donald Trump led the movement to delegitimize our first black president, trumpeting the so-called “birther” movement”, she continued.

Recent polls have shown large numbers of voters, including independents, expressing wariness of both Clinton and Trump, signaling that the election could pivot largely on the ability of each party to turn out its electoral base.

The former NY senator also pointed out numerous controversial remarks Trump has made over the last year – and even one he made almost 45 years ago.
