Newcastle United target aiming to force move away from West Ham

Given the 26-year-old has made no secret that he is desperate to leave, his latest absence will be interpreted as another sign that he is trying to force a move.

The Hammers are in the hunt for a new striker over the summer and were closely linked with AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca but talks have cooled recently.

Sakho signed a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee with West Ham United, becoming their seventh signing before the start of the 2014-15 season.

Sunderland target Diafra Sakho has pulled out of West Ham’s pre-season trip to Austria.

Diafra has already handed in his transfer request to the club however, Hammers co-owner David Sullivan has revealed that the striker is not up for sale unless the current situation changes.

“Until we bring strikers in we simply can not let strikers go”.

But Irons c-chairman David Sullivan has warned the African attacker that he’ll only be allowed to leave once West Ham have secured the services of a direct replacement.

Sunderland reportedly launched an £11m bid for Sakho earlier this summer, but West Ham turned them down.

If Newcastle are to sign Sakho, they will face fierce competition from a number of Premier League clubs, including West Brom, Crystal Palace and Swansea City as well as interest from across continental Europe.
