Apple has finally launched its mobile payments service Apple Pay in France, bringing the number of countries it supports to eight.
Starting today, Apple Pay is now available in France for credit and debit cards issued by Banque Populaire, Ticket Restaurant, Carrefour Banque, and Caisse d’Epargne.
With competition from Samsung Pay, Google Wallet, PayPal and others along with 12 million estimated monthly users for Apple Pay alone, it’s worth watching the mobile payments global expansion race unfold. Apple Pay in apps is also available on iPads with Touch ID, including the iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 4, and both iPad Pro models.
To get started with Apple Pay, simply open up the Wallet app on a compatible device and add a supported credit or debit card.
Apple Pay works in-store on iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE, and the Apple Watch. We should also expect Apple Pay to continue to come to additional banks in countries where the service has already launched.
