Serena’s grand slam wins all a blur
“But it makes the victory even sweeter to know how hard I worked for it and being here to receive my 22nd Grand Slam title is awesome”.

A heart-breaking loss in the US Open semi-finals to Roberta Vinci last September denied her a chance of completing a rare calendar-year Grand Slam and it took her almost nine months to get her groove back. It was a really good and exciting win for me today.
The value of the Venus Rosewater Dish that Serena Williams picked up yesterday may well have appreciated over the seven occasions she has won the Wimbledon women’s singles title may well have appreciated, but the currency value has fluctuated over time, not least before and after Brexit.
Williams was quick to pay tribute to Kerber and also saluted her entourage, which included her coach Patrick Mouratoglou, sister Venus and pop royalty Beyonce and Jay-Z. “I had a couple of tries this year”, Williams said.
“This court definitely feels like home, I have a match later today in the doubles (final on Centre Court), so I’ll be back out”, Serena Williams told the BBC.
“Oh, God, no”, Williams said.
Williams was denied a calendar grand slam in Flushing Meadows by little-known Italian Roberta Vinci before slipping up to Kerber in Melbourne and then Garbine Muguruza in Paris. It gets really blurry after that.
The end came quickly when Kerber was broken for the second time in the match in the seventh game of the second set.
“The tennis player was there but Serena as a person was not really herself, so she was beatable”.
Kerber played great too and was even applauded by her rival in the fourth game of the second set when she finished off a 15-stroke end-to-end baseline rally by curling in a blazing backhand victor despite nearly running off into the side stands.
“Unfortunately I definitely do see myself differently when I lose which I don’t think is normal”, Williams said.
“I think that really just shows the human side of me”.
Shvedova, who lost to Venus in the singles quarterfinals this week, was trying to win her third Grand Slam doubles title, after teaming with Vania King for trophies at Wimbledon and the US Open in 2010.

But on Saturday, the 34-year-old tennis star celebrated her latest victory by raising two fingers on each hand to symbolize “22”.
