Danny Ings and Ben Woodburn both hit the target and Liverpool secured a 2-0 win over Wigan to stay flawless in this pre-season campaign. The Championship side are managed by one of Klopp’s best friends David Wagner.

Although Bogdan has continued to train at Melwood as normal, he was not due to be taken by Jürgen Klopp on their pre-season tour of the USA this week.

“The schedule has been demanding, but its necessary to get to where we need to be for the opening game against Brentford, ” he told the Huddersfield Examiner.

Woodburn then made it 2-0 in the 74th minute when he ran onto a superb through ball pass before slotting home past the goalkeeper for his second goal in successive games.

“The lads maintained their focus and effort right to the end, and I like that.”.

Joel Matip has given Liverpool a fitness boost after a scan on the defender’s ankle revealed no serious damage, a source close to the club has confirmed to ESPN FC.

Wagner, who worked with Klopp at Borussia Dortmund, says his sole aim is being fully prepared to face the Bees.

“I said in a previous interview that it has been a tough time for me, getting fit, and for me now it’s all about getting minutes under my belt and dusting off any cobwebs I had”, Ings added.

With defender Mamadou Sakho, who underwent treatment for a long-standing Achilles problem, set to miss the Premier League opener against Arsenal on August 14, Klopp is confident Matip will resume training on Tuesday.

Woodburn has generated the most hype due to his goals, but we can’t imagine he’ll travel because of his age and the fact Klopp has said he definitely won’t be involved in the first-team this term.
