Video shows suspect being shot by officer on Oklahoma bus
The video released Monday by the Oklahoma City Police Department shows Chavez grabbing for Officer Heather Lane’s gun, then wrestling her to the floor of the bus.

The staff at St. James later told police that Chavez prayed there, apparently very upset about his upcoming divorce.
Her comments came at this morning’s Oklahoma City Council Meeting where others expressed concerns that the police are no longer wearing body cameras. He then allegedly got into the vehicle with two women inside and ordered them to drive off.
Around 4:30pm Chaves-Angles called his wife, saying he was trying to find a ride home, police say. Five minutes later, police received a report of a kidnapping. Chavez was followed in the vehicle until he eventually jumped out and ran into O’Reilly Auto Parts and locked the door.
Once on board the bus, the man began to act increasingly agitated, reportedly becoming aggressive and urging the driver to drive.
“I will give you whatever you want”, Chavez said.
Officers were initially investigating a vandalism complaint when Chavez jumped on a Embark city bus and demanded the driver taken him off-route.
Chavez-Angles then says what sounds like “white people are looking for me” before pleading for the male driver to not open the doors.
The bus stops but Chavez-Angles remains perched as scared passengers stream off.
However, when the fire extinguisher slips out of his hand, he reaches for Officer Lane’s gun.
“We understand and appreciate that police officers are concerned for their safety, but putting more guns on the streets is not the answer”.
The two struggle for the weapon and then one shot goes off.
Another officer enters the bus and several more shots are fired, striking Chavez. Oklahoma City Police Chief Bill Citty says he’s reconsidered his previous position and now will allow officers to carry their personal rifles while on duty until the department buys additional weapons.

Carli places Lane’s weapon on the seat behind him, assists Lane to her feet and off the bus, then retrieves Lane’s gun and maintains a tactical stance with his own firearm drawn.
