The state-run news agency, Anadolu Agency, said Erdogan ordered the overnight patrol by F-16s “for the control of the airspace and security”.

Early Monday, special Istanbul anti-terror police units raided the prestigious air force military academy, detaining four suspects, Anadolu reported.
The unsuccessful military coup in Turkey, which aimed to overthrow President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s government, will significantly impact the country’s economy in a number of sectors.
At least 6,000 people have been arrested across the country after the failed coup and the crackdown is expected to be widened, Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag said on Sunday.
Thousands of pro-Erdogan supporters waving Turkish flags filled the main Kizilay Square in Ankara while similar scenes were seen in Taksim Square in Istanbul, AFP photographers said.
Erdogan will probably attempt to change the governance into a presidential model and will keep striving for the strongest possible power, Sok added.
The Turkish leadership has announced that the coup was suppressed.
Turkey’s deputy prime minister said dossiers containing details of Gulen’s activities have been sent to the U.S. Numan Kurtulmus would not provide details about the files but said they include the past actions of the group that Gulen leads.
“This shows that when the matter at hand is the country, then everything else is incidental”, he added.
WATCH: What’s behind Turkey’s failed coup? It also reported that 70 generals and admirals, including former air force commander General Akin Ozturk, have been arrested. The rest are awaiting processing.
Ten generals have already been remanded in custody ahead of trial, the Dogan news agency said.
In a bid to calm markets roiled by the coup attempt, Turkey’s central bank cut a key interest rate Tuesday to shore up liquidity in the economy. A Turkish official said more than 190 citizens, majority military, were killed and more than 1,400 people were wounded during the violence. “I think our government will speak with the opposition and come to a decision”, he said, reacting to crowds in Istanbul calling for the death penalty.
“Had I stayed 10, 15 additional minutes, I would have been killed or I would have been taken”, he said in the interview late Monday.
Kerry said Monday that the extradition request will only be processed when Turkey provides genuine evidence that withstands scrutiny.

“We also urge the government of Turkey to uphold the highest standards of respect for the nation’s democratic institutions”, US Secretary of State John Kerry told reporters after talks with European Union foreign ministers.
