The strike on Camp Integrity came barely 24-hours after multiple bombings rocked the Afghan capital on Friday.

In a Saturday statement issued by NATO’s Resolute Support (RS) mission in Afghanistan, the alliance stated the fatal attack on the military facility was waged on Friday night, which also left behind casualties on the militants. The base, near Kabul, houses US Special Forces.
A member of a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation military force in Afghanistan has been killed in an attack on the alliance’s base in Kabul as the nation’s military spokesman announced the killing of 115 militants across the country by the national army forces.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing that killed dozens of cadets at the police academy but no claim was made for the other attacks.
The attacks on Friday follow a week of turmoil in the Taliban after the Afghan intelligence service announced that their leader, Mullah Mohammad Omar, had been dead for more than two years.
The first was a 1:30 a.m. truck bomb attack near an Afghan Army compound in Kabul, that killed at least 15 civilians and wounded over 400 people, presidential spokesperson Zafar Hashemi told NBC News.
Experts say the escalating violence demonstrates Mullah Mansour’s attempt to boost his image among Taliban cadres and drive attention away from internal divisions over his leadership.
“The demise of Mullah Omar divided the movement and affected the morale of their ground fighters”.
The attack took place hours after a suicide bomber dressed in a police uniform struck outside the gates of a police academy in the Afghan capital, killing at least 20 recruits and wounding 24, Afghan officials said.

The president’s office said 47 women and 33 children were among the casualties in that attack.
