Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’ enters Rs 500-cr Bollywood club

The Yash Raj Films production earned Rs 36.54 crore on its opening day, itself. Sultan was released on 6th July 2016 on the very precious occasion of Eid.

The film is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, which tells the story of a wrestler who is pushed to retirement after a tragedy hits his life. The second weekend collection of the film was around 31.04 Cr. The film surpassed the expectations of the filmmakers, trade analysts and surprised the industry making the record of collection Rs 200 Cr by the end of its 1st Week.

Says censor chief Pahlaj Nihalani, “If the censor board discourages films with a high sleaze content then it must also ensure that films of high merit like Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan get immediately identified with the censor gradation”. In upcoming days I am sure that this movie going to collect 300 Crore too. Such numbers can be handled.

This makes it the fifth highest grossing Bollywood film ever. Tables have been turned by Sultan and there are few ones left to be turned and demolished.

Sultan had collected about Rs. 260.60 cr.in just 13 day of its release in Indian box office which was a great surprise for the makers of the film.
