Patriots intensifies talks with Ryan Fitzpatrick as negotiations with Jets still hang?

Fitzpatrick could probably scare the Jets into upping their offer if another team showed a real interest in swooping in to steal him away, but the interest from other teams wasn’t there in March, and it apparently isn’t there today.

There has been really no movement from either side, everybody is dug in.

Contract talks between Fitzpatrick and the Jets have led to NY now having the worst quarterback situation of any of the 32 National Football League teams entering training camp.

“I don’t know what’s going on”, said Marshall.

Coach Todd Bowles indicated this spring he would like his No. 1 quarterback in the building by the start of training camp, with the first preseason game coming August 11. NFL insider Ian Rapoport told NFL Total Access through NFL.com that talks between the Jets and Fitzpatrick has not resumed and it looks like the stalemate will continue until the start of training camp. “But at the end of the day, we would be having a different conversation if they would’ve made it to the playoffs”.

Marshall has spoken this off-season about wanting Fitzpatrick back.

Marshall recently appeared on actor Michael Rapaport’s podcast “I am Rapaport” and said that he has been texting the holdout QB but has not heard back which is odd because he usually texts him back immediately. Fitzpatrick would be okay with a one-year deal at $12 million to hit free agency after this season. It’s scaring me right now. While Fitzpatrick insists his desired contract, the Jets are not in a hurry because there’s not a single team that is wanting him at this moment.
