These were the scenes in Lisbon on Monday, filmed on Ronaldo’s phone, as the Portuguese national team received a heroes’ welcome following their Euro 2016 heroics.

Cristiano Ronaldo was feeling generous after Portugal’s victory over France in the final of Euro 2016.
They were due to meet President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who said he would honour them with an award for distinguished acts of public service. Nike reported that the boot was responsible for a total of 35 goals – including the winning shot by Éder, who was sporting the Mercurial Vapor XI style.
It was a first half that saw Cristiano Ronaldo substituted out due to a knee injury, which obviously wasn’t great for Portugal. “He gave me strength and positive energy”.
“He always has confidence and is positive and that’s what he gave us”.
Portugal, Ronaldo and his Iranian fan club had the last laugh, however, as the Portuguese went on to beat Payet and his France side 1-0. There were a number of players who showed a lot of quality. We’re just glad to see that he eventually got to celebrate the title with a big smile on his face, and it doesn’t look like he’s ever going to let the trophy go.

Ronaldo is joined by fellow winners Rui Patricio, Pepe and Raphael Guerreiro, but Renato Sanches, named Young Player of the Tournament, is not included. Dermot Corrigan, a Madrid-based football writer of ESPN, said that Ronaldo has achieved a trophy that Messi has not in global football, but it does not mean that Messi was already left behind.
