The proud captain paraded the Stanley Cup through his hometown for the second time in his career on Saturday, hoisting the Cup in the back of a pickup truck as it maneuvered through the 1.1-mile celebration that featured thousands of screaming fans.

He brought the Cup into the Sidney Crosby Hockey School – taking place this week at the Cole Harbour Place arena for the second year in a row – much to the delight of young players. But this time around, Crosby brought home a little something extra the Conn Smythe Trophy for the MVP of the playoffs. It marked his assigned day to spend with the Stanley Cup.

It will start at the Saint John XXIII Church on 35 Colby Drive, then proceed north on Cumberland Drive, continuing across Cole Harbour Road onto Forest Hills Parkway.

He was spotted Friday at a Tim Hortons in Nova Scotia, showing off the Stanley Cup by setting it on the counter as people swarmed to take pictures.

MacFarlane said their store, which is attached to a Wendy’s, was hoping they might spot the hockey star but had “no idea” he would be dropping in.

The Penguins beat the San Jose Sharks in six games to win the Stanley Cup.
