N.Korea threatens “physical response” against US THAAD system deployment
The United States and North Korea don’t actually have formal diplomatic ties, but the North Korean mission to the United Nations (located in New York) has been the unofficial communication avenue between the two nations.

The harsh words from North Korea come as the United States and South Korea have announced that they are negotiating where the new, high-tech Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) will be deployed.
All matters related to the US, including the handling of American citizens detained by Pyongyang, will be conducted under its “wartime law”, the North’s official KCNA news agency said.
North Korea said the “physical response” will take place the moment the time and location of the THAAD system have been confirmed.
According to Zhebin, the THAAD systems deployment on South Korean territory has nothing to do with North Korea’s nuclear tests.
SOUTH Korea said yesterday that an advanced USA missile defense system to be deployed in a remote southern county will have the capacity to protect two thirds of the country against attacks from North Korea.
“The DPRK government informed the U.S. government of its principled stand that from now on it would deal with all the issues arising in the DPRK-U.S. relations under the wartime law of the DPRK and the issue of detained Americans is no exception”. China assisted North Korea during the 1950-53 Korean War, while American-led United Nations troops fought alongside South Korea.
Minister Han Min-koo told the National Assembly on Tuesday that the US military has conducted an evaluation on THAAD’s effects on the environment through the system based in Guam, and said that it will not harm the health and well-being of the people.
The North frequently threatens to attack the South, as well as U.S. interests in Asia and the Pacific.
The decision announced here Wednesday to deploy a high-tech US missile defense system in a southeastern part of South Korea may have been influenced by the government’s desire not to provoke China.
Russian Federation and China, who have stood by North Korea at times, also object to THAAD.
The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) has reportedly conducted an unsuccessful test firing of a ballistic missile from a Sinpo-class submarine off the country’s eastern coast on Saturday.
Fraught relations between the U.S. and North Korea have reached a new low, with the move the latest step-up in tensions between the two.

The US maintains 28,500 troops in South Korea, a legacy of the 1950-53 Korean war. Many South Koreans worry China, South Korea’s biggest trading partner, might take economic retaliatory measures.

North Korea last week said the new sanctions were an “open declaration of war”, reflecting its sensitivity over any criticism of its ruling family.
