Prince bought Minneapolis house featured in ‘Purple Rain’
In a story that can only be Prince though, information has recently emerged that the legendary pop star purchased the house featured in his 1984 film Purple Rain at an auction a year ago. Last year, when the house went on sale, the asking price was $110,000.00 which is a relatively affordable price considering its significant music history and its landmark status in Minnesota.

It was only after Larson saw the name on the paperwork, “NPG Music Publishing” (the company owned by Prince) that she realised who was actually behind the purchase.
As previously reported, the exterior of the 1913 home was used in Purple Rain extensively, acting as the homebase of violet motorcycle-riding movie hero “The Kid”. It had been on the market for about a week.
The house on Snelling Avenue was one of many properties Prince owned in the Twin Cities area. She says it needed “a lot of repairs”.
The legendary singer – who died of an accidental overdose aged 57 in April – is said to have snatched up the property in Minneapolis, Minnesota from the memorable 1984 movie, according to a real estate agent. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.
