Tattoo artist and makeup entrepreneur Kat Von D has publicly “disassociated” herself with longtime friend, singer-songwriter and makeup artist Jeffree Star.
In this never-ending argument, Von D responded saying he stole artwork. She added she’d later post a video explaining why she was so disgusted with the MySpace personality and makeup guru. and now, we have that very telling clip. But for the time being, I simply want to apologize to anybody and everybody who has ever had to deal with any of his negativity.
“If you ask Jeffree how he made his makeup line, I’m sure the story will be about how he’s so self-creative”, she said. Sending extra love to everyone out there.
She claimed that the last straw was Jeffree reportedly not paying an illustrator for a logo that he now uses on his lipsticks.
“After years of making excuses for, and rationalizing Jeffree’s inappropriate behavior (including, promoting drug use, racism, and bullying) I can no longer hold my tongue after recent events”, Kat Von D wrote.
But Von D’s complaints aren’t limited to semi-tiresome rants on the sanctity of veganism and brand respect: More significantly, she claims that she played a much larger role in founding Star’s makeup line than he claims, naming professional contacts she connected Star with that he allegedly cheated out of compensation.
“L.A. Ink” star Kat Von D believes she helped create a “monster” – and now, she wants to get as far away from him as possible!
June 12, 2016: Beauty blogger Stephanie Nicole posts a 40-plus-minute video in which she reviews new Jeffree Star products and discusses some of the online controversy surrounding the brand. Maybe because she already had her own and knew that Jeffree Star would be a big competitor.
She says Star attacks anyone who intimidates him slightly, citing an incident where she says Star attacked a small independent lip gloss brand over a packaging error.
July 19, 2016: In the wee hours of the morning, Von D posts a pic and note on Instagram announcing her desire to no longer be associated with Star. “I regret being a part of helping somebody become so self-absorbed when I probably could have spoken up a lot sooner”, she says in the video.

Jeffree responded by tweeting, “There are 2 sides to every story”.
