– U.S. magnate Donald Trump today posted on his Twitter account that it is “such a great honor to be the Republican nominee for president of the United States”, after being officially nominated at his party’s convention in Cleveland, Ohio.

“Donald Trump having received the majority of the votes cast has been selected as the Republican Party nominee of the president of the United States”, announced Paul Ryan, House of Representatives Speaker and also chair of the Republican National Convention.

Some of the delegate votes that other candidates, including Marco Rubio and John Kasich, received were given to Trump by convention officials.

Political conventions are about pulling a party together for the long, tough slog to the November election.

“Congratulations Dad, we love you.”

“Donald Trump is the official Republican nominee”, the fundraising page said.

The 70-year-old billionaire businessman was put over the top with delegates by his home state of NY.
