Long Beach, California, police confront, kill man they say stabbed 6 people

An officer-involved shooting then ensued when police encountered the suspect, Zabel said, ultimately leading to the death of the suspect at the scene. Upon arrival, they found that multiple people had been stabbed and the suspect armed with a knife.

Long Beach police have shot and killed a man they say stabbed several people.

Officers were called about a stabbing in progress at 8:17 p.m in the 3200 block of East Artesia Boulevard.

Five of the six stabbing victims were rushed to a hospital, in conditions ranging from superficial to critical, police said.

Police are not saying anything else about the victims or their attacker.

Police shot the suspect dead after arriving at the scene.

KNBC-TV reports that relatives of the suspected attacker arrived at the scene after learning he had been killed.

The number of victims or the nature of their injuries has not been released by authorities.

Police said at least one of the stabbing victims is in critical condition
