Around the convention floor, Trump’s victory was far from universally welcomed.
Many delegates clapped politely after his victory, a few angrily walked out or voiced their unease. Four of his children joined the state’s delegation on the convention floor for the historic moment and appeared overwhelmed with emotion.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives Paul Ryan declared “the Obama years are nearly over; the Clinton years are way over; 2016 is the year America moves on”.

He also took a swipe at the media, which he has repeatedly alleged is biased against him and favors Democratic presumptive presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, who herself has recently been mired in an email scandal.
“People are ready for a fundamental and unequivocal change in Washington and the person who is going to bring that is Donald Trump”. Three other candidates emerged with a total of 12 delegates.
