United against Clinton, GOP seeks to rebrand Trump

Mr Trump’s campaign hoped the formal nomination would end the dissent surging through the Republican Party and overshadow the convention’s chaotic start, including a plagiarism charge involving Melania Trump’s address on opening night.

“This is a movement”, he told the delegates via video link.

As the Joker once asked: enough madness?

John Creed of Liberty, an alternate delegate, said: “It’s disappointing that the governor won’t support Donald Trump”.

An emotional Ivanka Trump told CNN’s Dana Bash immediately after her father was confirmed as the Republican nominee, “It’s unbelievable, it’s surreal, I am so proud of my father”.

“We’re not encouraging it. We’re actually trying to stop it”, the adviser said.

Trump, who joined politics only a year ago and stormed the Republican party defeating as many as 17 top GOP leaders in the process, is expected to deliver his acceptance speech at the convention in Cleveland on Wednesday. The statement came after the campaign spent two days insisting that it wasn’t plagiarism and calling the criticism absurd.

Around the convention floor, Trump’s victory was far from universally welcomed.

Many delegates clapped politely after his victory, a few angrily walked out or voiced their unease. Four of his children joined the state’s delegation on the convention floor for the historic moment and appeared overwhelmed with emotion.

Speaking on Facebook Newsom said: “I’m not sure what Freddie Mercury would think of his music being played at the RNC convention, but I do know that if he weren’t a famous rockstar, he would have probably been greeted by a wall, a really high wall, because he represented everything that Mike Pence and Donald Trump are scared of”. “But it is what it is”.

The nomination was seconded with speeches by fellow early supporters New York Rep. Chris Collins and South Carolina Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster. The Speaker of the House of Representatives Paul Ryan declared “the Obama years are nearly over; the Clinton years are way over; 2016 is the year America moves on”.

“The party is unified”.

He also took a swipe at the media, which he has repeatedly alleged is biased against him and favors Democratic presumptive presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, who herself has recently been mired in an email scandal.

“People are ready for a fundamental and unequivocal change in Washington and the person who is going to bring that is Donald Trump”. Three other candidates emerged with a total of 12 delegates.

Melania Trump’s speech on Monday night has come under fire for potentially being plagiarized. She’s grown up. She has participated in the delivery of this speech.

Trump easily earned the 1,237 delegates needed to capture the nomination.

Again on Tuesday it fell to Trump’s kin to reshape his public image.

Donald Trump Jr. checks out the stage before his scheduled speech Tuesday evening.

Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., and his youngest daughter, Tiffany Trump, both spoke glowingly about their father, painting a picture of a kind and supportive parent who, despite their family’s wealth, encouraged them to get a real-world education in the values of hard work and determination.

Melania Trump’s big night failed to draw in bumper audiences to the major TV networks.

The Senate GOP leader’s main argument was essentially that while President Obama vetoed Republican priorities like repealing health care reform and cutting spending, Trump would approve their legislation.
