Clear the Shelters campaign begins at Frederick County’s Animal and Adoption Center
This is the first year the county’s shelters are participating in the nationwide initiative that strives to unite homeless animals with loving new families.

Inside Project Hope, cats and dogs outnumber people, but volunteer Lynn Chrisman still knows each animal by name.
Collin County Animal Shelter Supervisor Danny Davis said the county’s shelter has 120 animals available for adoption if residents can’t find something they like in Allen. Veterinarians were performing spay/neuter surgeries over the weekend and every day this week to prepare for Clear the Shelters.
The shelter has a play yard out back so that potential adopters can get acquainted with the pets. “Each of these companies is leaders in pet care and pet wellness and together we will help many pets find forever homes this year”. You can check the Adoption Tracker on the Clear the Shelters website to see how many pets have been adopted.
All animals adopted will be spayed or neutered, been given their core vaccinations including rabies, micro-chipped, and given a new collar.
“It’s definitely the most remarkable event we have”, Deel added. “It ridiculous the amount of work we go through to prepare for the event, and the stress it puts on our staff and volunteers is intense”.
Those who adopt at the event also can get great savings on high-end products through a Petco Family Care Pack with $650 in coupons for nutrition, toys, grooming products, cleaning supplies and more, she said.
What can we expect this year?
According to Teresa Landon, Ohio SPCA Executive Director, “Our shelter is overflowing with wonderful dogs and cats ready for that special forever home”. During this event, we want to match individuals and families to that flawless new four-legged companion.
“We’re in the business of giving second chances”.
In over 20 states, more than 400 different shelters will decrease or waive adoption fees as an incentive to find these pets a loving home.
