Lawmakers in Germany are pushing for new legislation to help deal with driverless auto accidents.
The German ministry of transport has proposed a legislation regarding this aspect. The hardware would record the decisions made by the autopilot functionality, when the driver was under the control of the vehicle, as well as would pinpoint the exact moment when the system requested that the driver takes over.
Reportedly, this proposal, which is now in a draft stage, will be voted on in the coming few months by the German Parliament.
Most of the automakers who have installed autopilot feature in their cars, including Tesla Motors Inc.

However, customers have been testing the limits of Autopilot functionality, which is still at “Beta” phase. The company’s electric vehicles are in continuous communication with Tesla’s servers. However, Tesla has been adamant that it not going to do any such thing and would rather help educate people more about how the function works.
