Walker won’t run for president again as sitting governor

Gov. Walker set a really low bar by saying that any of the Republicans would be better than Clinton and that a vote for anybody but Trump will be a vote for Hillary Clinton.

Talking with reporters before his prime-time speech, the governor said, “If I’m going to run for anything in the future, it’s for governor”.

Scott Walker says he won’t run for president again as a sitting governor, like he did a year ago.

The Wisconsin governor also had praise for the Raleigh restaurant scene, particularly chef Ashley Christensen’s downtown eatery Beasley’s Chicken and Honey. I should have run in “96 when I was governor”, said Thompson. “I think that’s precisely the appeal that Donald Trump brings to the table”.

“I firmly believe, looking at all that’s at stake, that a vote for anyone but Donald Trump in November is a vote for Hillary, and I just find that to be fundamentally unacceptable”, Walker said Wednesday morning. Marco Rubio spoke at delegation breakfasts during the 2012 GOP convention.

Walker will speak at the convention on Wednesday.

During the race Walker pledged to support the eventual nominee, but when he dropped out in September he called on other candidates to do the same to clear the field for a conservative alternative to Trump. “Make no mistake. We can’t wait four years to get them next time”.

KASICH ABSENCE: Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s absence at this week’s Republican National Convention in his own state has not gone unnoticed by the head of Iowa’s Republican Party.

The Wisconsin governor had an adversarial relationship with Trump during the primaries, and at the time he withdrew last fall, Walker urged other GOP candidates to coalesce against Trump. Walker said he pledged almost a year ago during the candidate debate in Cleveland that he would support the party’s 2016 presidential nominee. Still, he made clear that he was particularly impressed with the selection of Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate.

“That makes for a good argument that you put (in office) not just a Republican but in this case a Republican who’s willing to shake up Washington”, he said of Trump.

“Mike Pence is one of my closest friends”, he said.

Walker led in some national and early state polls a year ago before he declared his candidacy after a breakout performance at an Iowa conservative forum in January 2015. “Ben Carson has some followers in SC, but I think his political career is over”.
